The Mill

Great Ellingham is a large village a few miles from Attleborough & Hingham in Norfolk.
It has a very good school, a pub, a recreation centre, a shop/post office and an observatory, hence why the village is a designated 'dark area' with barely any street lighting. Also in the village is our Mill. You can find more information about the mill by clicking the appropriate link on the left.

Most importantly though is the village life we have here. There are several great groups in the village including The Great Ellingham Pretenders, our brilliant pantomime group whose page you can access on the menu to your left. From their page, you can access all the photos from previous performances and access their very own Facebook group - and you dont even have to sign up!. We have enjoyed many great performances, the latest being Dick Whittington. The next panto will be January 2011.

Another of our groups is the Greenfingers Garden Club whi meet once a month to listen to a speaker and in the summer months enjoy trips out.

However, our biggest attribute in the village is the annual Teddy Bear Festival, now its 7th year. Held to raise money for the village and other local charities.
The concept is that residents make and display a bear, most commonly life-size, in their garden as part of a larger scene. We've had tree doctors, actual doctors and even their patients, politicians including Gordon Brown and Tony 'Bear', weddings, tv characters and many, many more.
It is a two week event which encompasses many other events including discos, pamper evenings, art exhibitions, a concert and not forgetting the Teddy Bear Trail. You buy a trail form and you walk round the village to find as many of the bears as you can. You can also vote for your favourite. All bears will be judged by a third-party!

Great Ellingham has three churches, St James, The Baptists and the Methodists
